Hello Substack world! Introducing Luna's Gaming Log.
How I decided to create a gaming blog on a random day in August and why said blog is not on Substack.
Check out my blog on https://lunasgaminglog.com where I publish new posts every Tuesday! You can also subscribe to receive them on your email inbox.
This year hasn’t been easy for me. My company announced they were doing a reorganization, and my role was one of the impacted ones. The whole process dragged on for months, and it took its toll on my mental health.
In the middle of so much uncertainty and stress, I resorted to games to keep my sanity. I played games that transported me to a new reality, where I could be someone else (sorry for the cliché). Sometimes avoidance can be harmful, but in my case, I really needed the distraction (and more specifically, I really needed Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma).
I work as a designer in the tech field. The more I saw myself unable to use my creative muscles at work, while I was waiting to learn what would happen to me, the more I felt that I needed a creative outlet as soon as possible.
And that’s how one day in August 2025 I impulsively started a gaming blog.
To be honest, I didn’t even know why I was making a blog of all things I could make, except for the fact that I was craving connecting more with people about gaming. I’d been playing games on a frequent basis for 3 years, but this was the year where the hobby got to the status of a small obsession of mine, and like with most obsessions, you just want to talk about it all the time, right?
I decided to call my blog ‘Luna’s Gaming Log’ because even though my real name is Luiza, I choose ‘Luna’ as my character name whenever I can. I don’t know, something about using my real name in games just breaks the immersion for me. Is this weird?
Because I tend to take my obsessions very seriously, I made a few decisions. First of all, I wanted to try out this blog thing for at least a year - and to make the routine stick, I decided that I would publish posts every Tuesday (at least). Second of all, I decided I would self-host the blog and use Wordpress; Substack looked like a great option, but it was simply important to me to have full control over the reader experience. Third of all, my blog would have no cookies, no ads, no Google Analytics, no freaking SEO gibberish - just a plain, old, beautiful if I dare say, blog.
During these brief couple of months of Luna’s Gaming Log, I’ve met so many amazing creators and I light up every single time someone mentions they enjoyed something I wrote.
Thank you for reading this and for connecting with me through these hobbies we all love so much (and I mean both gaming and writing).
-Luna

A web blog that has no cookies, ads or SEO nonsense? Do you have any idea how refreshing that is to hear? 😂
Your blog is in my RSS feed app to keep an eye on. Great to partially have you here though!
Hi Luna!
I’m quite new to Substack as well, so it’s exciting (and honestly relieving) to see I haven’t missed any boats, and that the gaming community on Substack is still very fresh! I’m eager to follow your posts and hopefully have some discussions in the future!
(That was phrased super business-y but I promise it’s genuine haha)
